NOW HIRING: ATC Trainees

RECRUITMENT ADVERTISEMENT FOR AMORY AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TRAINEES.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of ‘Air Traffic Control Officer Trainee’ in the Air Traffic Services Department, at the Vance W Amory Int’l Airport.

The successful applicant initially assumes the role of ‘Trainee’, while undergoing training in the practical application of ATC procedures, will assist the team of Air Traffic Control Officers as part of the educational process, this will prepare him/her to become a certified ATC Officer. Subsequent to successfully completing formal Air Traffic Control (ATC) training at an approved overseas facility, the Air Traffic Control Trainee’s next step is to undergo “On the Job Training” under the supervision of a qualified “On the Job Training Instructor” until the successful check out as an Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO).

Trained Air traffic Controllers with a Diploma from an ICAO accredited and approved Air Traffic Control (ATC) Training Facility are also welcomed to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS TO BE ATTAINED:

·        Medical Requirements

·        Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a class 3 Medical License. (This will be obtained after the applicant is successful.)

·        Language Proficiency Level 4 to 6.

Minimum Acceptable Academic/Technical/Professional Qualifications

·        At least 5 subject passes equivalent to General Certificate of Examination Ordinary level (GCE) or Caribbean Examination Council Examination (CXC) CSEC, Grade 3 and above including English Language, Geography Mathematics and Physics

Specific Skills/Experience and/or Knowledge

·        Good Communication Skills

·        Good analytical skills

·        Attention to detail.

·        Excellent short-term memory

·        Team player

·        Demonstrate progressive understanding and competence in ‘maintaining the BIG picture’ while safely and efficiently managing traffic in the airspace under control.

In this position, you will:

·        Gain the ability to maintain an awareness of collecting and disseminating information crucial to the safe and efficient conduct of flights.

·        Gain a sound knowledge/awareness of relevant ATC systems & Practices as outlined in the Job Description.

·        Provide assistance to the on-duty Air Traffic Control Officer in the ATC tower.

·        Input of aircraft flight data movements into relevant databases.

·        Assist the ATC Supervisor or ATC Manager with amending ATC Manuals, etc.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
