Customs Week of activities slated for end of January

NASPA Long Point Nevis (January 24, 2020) – The Nevis Customs and Excise Department will observe International Customs Day 2020 from January 26th to February 1st, 2020 and is extending a special invitation to the public to their feature event, Customs Open day.


The week of activities will be hosted under the theme “Customs Fostering Sustainability for People, Prosperity and the Planet” and will include four special activities for the customs agents.


Deputy Comptroller at the Customs and Excise Department-Nevis Division, Cynric Carey, explained the purpose of hosting the event and invited the public to their special event catered to the community.


Customs week will commence with a Church service on Sunday, January 26th at the Zion Chapel, On Thursday, will be an appreciation cocktail and dinner for the agents at Nisbet’s Plantation. Thursday will be dedicated to the Customs department and their community involvement with their Customs Open day at the Memorial Square in Charlestown at 10:00 a.m. where they will showcase a variety of relevant information on display for persons that import into the federation. The event will also feature entertainment from local artists.


The week of activities will end on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 where the department will host a Family Picnic for the agents within the department.


Deputy Comptroller, Carey used the opportunity to invite the public to the Customs Open day.
