AIRPORT MANAGER: JOB DESCRIPTION


The Port Authority is a statutory body with over 100 employees, effectively serving the needs of the entire public. The Vance W Amory International Airport is one of the four (4) ports managed by the Nevis Air and Sea Ports Authority. Plans are currently on the way to expand its air and seaport services to better accommodate our present and potential clients. We are committed to bringing our best to everyone we serve. 

The successful candidate will be responsible to the General Manager for the smooth operations of the entity. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • To ensure the safe and compliant operation of all aeronautical activities undertaken at the Vance W Amory International Airport at all times. 

  • To be the outward face of the Airport developing and maintaining positive relationships between the Airport and its stakeholders including airlines, tour operators, tenants, control authorities, elected representatives, local media, business partners, regulators, local communities, local authorities, development agencies, government and public sector bodies and members of the public. 

  • Responsible for improving the airport’s image and managing external stakeholders. 

  • To provide day-to-day management and leadership to the Airport’s supervisory team and staff. 

  • To provide the Annual Budget, and capital investment budget for the airport.  

  • To foster strong relationships with established and potential customers with a view to increasing the value of Airport sales to all aeronautical and commercial customers, concessionaires, tenants and users. 

  • To support the maintenance, development and promotion of workplace cultures which deliver sustainably high standards of: 

  1. Staff, public and Airport-wide health, and safety.

  2. Risk awareness and mitigation. 

  3. Communication and reporting of all safety and risk related events and assurance measures. 

  • To ensure that all regulations and standards of local, regional, and international organizations (CAD, ECCAA, ICAO, TSA) are adhered to. 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years management experience especially in an aviation related field 

  • A degree or equivalent in an Aviation or Management qualification 

  • Evidence of working with and influencing internal and external stakeholders 

  • Excellent people management skills including leadership, coaching and development. 

  • Knowledge of Aviation legislation and an understanding of regulatory matters will be an asset.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to prioritize workload to meet multiple deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 

  • Ability to use initiative and take decisive action. 

  • Demonstrate a positive approach to organizational goals.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
